Corsair Cross-country Ski Trails

Corsair Trail is one of the Midwest’s finest cross-country ski trail systems. It offers opportunities for skiers of all levels – and provides a unique opportunity to view a Michigan winter from the depths of the Huron National Forest. Over 26 miles of trails and loops flank Monument Road. There is skiing to fill a few hours or an entire weekend!

The network of trails known as the Corsair Trail has three trailheads, each about seven miles northwest of East Tawas. The Corsair Picnic Area is on the west side of Monument Road; Wright’s Lake is off Tuttle Road, which is on the east side of Monument Road; and Silver Valley, also on the east side of Monument Road. There are parking areas and pit toilet facilities at each of the trailheads.

Some of the best XC skiing in the state. Been coming here since the '70s. Storied history. Don't forget to pay the $5 Forest Service day pass fee at the trail heads & pick up a $10 trail grooming donation card & history stories at Nordic Sports in E Tawas. Skiing this good needs & deserves our support to keep it going another 45 years!

The best cross country ski trails in Michigan that I've been to yet! We had a great first time here skiing the Silver Valley area. We loved that there were two groomed tracks so you can ski side by side. The group that maintains this area does and awesome job, thanks! The scenery was gorgeous and there were plenty of runs with various levels of difficulty. We will definitely be back!
